[+] Added : Search dialog now has a "Search Headers" option which
allows searching in the FULL raw header text, using plain text

text so you can use reg exprs to check any header fields you want.
[+] Enhanced : Score and Lines columns have extra space added to RHS
to improve visual appearance.
[+] Enhanced : Thread pane header control columns : All titles are now
centre aligned and the incorrect "space" on the LHS has gone.
[+] Added : Export and Import of News Server
[+] Added : Command line Import of News Server for ISP use.
[+] Added import button on first startup screen.
[+] Upgraded Gravity and installer. Gravity is now compatible with
Vista and Windows 7, following Microsoft conventions for user data
storage. In English this means that you can have multiple users on
one PC and they can each have their own set of settings and
newsgroups. What one user does does not affect any other user.
Old settings and newsgroup files, provided they haven't been
moved, are detected and imported.
Please note that if Gravity is to be used by more than one person
on the PC it must be installed by an administrator into the
recommended location. Once installed both administrator and
standard users can use Gravity.
[+] Upgraded to allow multiple versions of Gravity to co-exist.
Each different version of Gravity from 2.9 onwards has its own
database folder and its own registry settings.
[+] Added database and settings export and import. The archive file
format is Microsoft CAB(inet) compressed format and the files
within can be viewed and extracted with Microsoft Explorer.
[+] Changed the installer so it includes the required Microsoft
libraries as opposed to downloading them.
[-] Due to the above, the Online and Offline installers were
approximately the same size so the Offline Installer has been
dropped.
[-] Fixed : Foreign month names caused crash.
[-] Fixed : Save article (append to existing file) missing delimiters
between existing text in file and new article.
[-] Fixed : Bug fix to stop update checker triggering every 5 seconds.
[-] Fixed : Custom headers can now be upto 998 bytes long.

Forté Agent: Versie 6.0 build 1186 beschikbaar

Forté laat weten dat versie 6.0 beschikbaar is. Deze bevat de volgende verbeteringen:
* Automatic server failover when downloading message bodies
* Faster Usenet header downloads (compressed headers)
* A new hide-quoted-text command
* Improved browser navigation
* New go-offline and retry-failed-tasks-now commands
* Improvements to searching
Deze versie werkt ook onder Windows 7 (zowel 32-bit als 64-bit).

Algemeen: Verizon newsgroup service to be discontinued

Na Time/Warner,RoadRunner, Comcast en AT&T stopt nu ook Verizon volledig met hun Usenet newsgroup service. Eerder blokkeerde Verizon al de volledige alt.* hiërarchie en bleven alleen 'the Big 8' over, maar op 30 september 2009 stoppen ze er dus helemaal mee.
Bijgevolg zal Usenet wellicht weer een aantal gebruikers verliezen, omdat niet elke gebruiker de kennis heeft om over te stappen naar betaalservers (vooral voor binaries dan) of naar gratis servers zoals Albasani, Eternal-September, Aioe, NEWS4US, ...
Hier in Vlaanderen censureren enkele providers nu ook al de binary nieuwsgroepen en met deze Amerikaanse providers als voorbeeld blijft het afwachten hoe lang het zal duren voordat ook zij de kraan volledig dichtdraaien...

Luu Tran leeft duidelijk nog en heeft een nieuwe ("test")versie beschikbaar gemaakt.

+ this is a test version to support > 2^31 article numbers. Apparently, the Dutch dump groups (ugh) have
passed the threshold. I guess sooner or later, the other groups will follow so I should do something about it.
(Please expect bugs galore. If this is not an issue for you, no need to bother with this version.)
