Roman Racine liet via de nieuwsgroep albasani.usenet-friends verstaan dat de server zou blijven bestaan dankzij de hulp van de zus van Alexander, Stefanie.
In een later bericht liet hij weten dat een account aanvragen ook terug mogelijk is.

Gisteren werd het bericht gepost dat Alexander Bartolich, Chairman van de Big-8 Management Board en (enige) eigenaar van de newsserver Albasani.net, overleden is aan een hartaanval.
Voorlopig draait de newsserver nog, maar het is niet geweten hoe lang dit nog zal duren.
Alexander Bartolich werd 39.

Forté Agent: Versie 7.00 build 1200 beschikbaar

Forté laat in via alt.usenet.offline-reader.forte.agent en dit bericht op de website weten dat er een nieuwe versie beschikbaar is, versie 7.00 build 1200. Release notes zijn hier te vinden. Kort:
- Agent will now handle newsgroups with article numbers greater than 4 gig (e.g. the infamous alt.binaries.boneless).
- By default Agent now retrieves message bodies by Message-ID, for better performance with modern Usenet servers.
- Saving of attachments has been fine-tuned to help you keep the size of data folders as small as possible and reduce disk fragmentation.
Ook is bijvoorbeeld de X-Newsreader header veranderd om te voldoen aan de normen. In plaats van

Na ongeveer 2,5 jaar stilte is er een nieuwe versie van Pan beschikbaar. De Change Log kan je hier vinden. Voorlopig (?) is er nog geen versie voor Windows beschikbaar.

Een belangrijke update door frag:
This release is only applicable to V3.0.2 users.
If you are using any other version you do NOT need to upgrade to this version
(but no harm will be done if you do).
The V3.0.3 version released yesterday contained a bug which prevented V3.0.2
users from upgrading. This version fixes this bug.
Apologies to all users affected.

storage. In English this means that you can have multiple users on
one PC and they can each have their own set of settings and
newsgroups. What one user does does not affect any other user.
Old settings and newsgroup files, provided they haven't been
moved, are detected and imported.
Please note that if Gravity is to be used by more than one person
on the PC it must be installed by an administrator into the
recommended location. Once installed both administrator and
standard users can use Gravity.
[+] Upgraded to allow multiple versions of Gravity to co-exist.
Each different version of Gravity from 2.9 onwards has its own
database folder and its own registry settings.
[+] Added database and settings export and import. The archive file
format is Microsoft CAB(inet) compressed format and the files
within can be viewed and extracted with Microsoft Explorer.
[+] Changed the installer so it includes the required Microsoft
libraries as opposed to downloading them.

approximately the same size so the Offline Installer has been
